School Social Work Services
Programs, usually within the formal education system, that provide a variety of services that address the problems students may be having at home or in the broader community that adversely affect their performance in school. Services may include preparing a social or developmental history; providing group or individual counselling for the student and family; working with problems in the student's living environment (home, school and community) that are affecting the student's functioning in school; consulting with staff regarding enhancement of the educational program for a particular student; and mobilizing school and community resources to enable the student to benefit from his or her educational program.
